Long Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT) is an advanced inspection technique that was developed for testing large volumes of material from a single test point. Comparison to the conventional ultrasonic inspection, no couplant is required between the surface and transducers and this technique is one of the fastest inspection tools for carrying out pipeline screening for corrosion and other damage mechanisms. This technique is used industries for a method to detect corrosion in pipelines, now widely used to inspect pipes in accessible areas such as road and river crossings, power plant tubing, risers, offshore topside pipe work, jetty lines, cross country pipelines and refinery pipe work.
