Surface Crack Detection

Our specialized NDT team provides alternating current field measurement (ACFM) testing for defect detection and corrosion mapping used for steel structure and material integrity assessment.

Using state of the art Electromagnetic Array (EMA), AC Field Measurement, advanced Field Gradient Imaging (FGI) or Classic Eddy Current   we are able to provide highly accurate, repeatable and uncompromising performance

  • Detection of metal cracks and flaws
  • Corrosion and material thickness measurements
  • Sorting and identifying materials
  • Coating thickness measurement
  • Electrical conductivity measurements
ADVANTAGES OF

ACFM

  • Can be employed on all electrically conducting material
  • Detection without removal of coating (up to 6mm coating thickness)
  • Windows interface and all data is recorded and retrievable for future references
  • Equipment is small, light and equipped with a 250meter remote connection
  • Inspection can be carried out on difficult to access or limited access via abseiling

APPLICATIONS OF

ACFM

  • Inspection of nodal joints for fatigue cracking above and below water, pedestal cranes, pad eye welds, flare booms, sheer panels and module welds above and below water.
  • Verification of impact/collision damage below water
  • Heat affected zones on pressure vessels
  • Through protective coating inspection
